The Our Lady TV Station was not born by chance. It was a dream some Redemptorist Missionaries, including Fr. Vítor Coelho de Almeida, had at least 40 years ago. Notes related to Aparecida Radio from 1965 to 1997 reveal that carefully guarded desire until the right time had come.

To celebrate Aparecida Radio’s 50-year anniversary that would be reached on September 08, 2001, the Management Board of the Our Lady of Aparecida Foundation, comprising Dom Aloísio Lorscheider, and Fathers César Moreira, Carlos da Silva, João Batista and Jalmir Herédia, decided to look for an already existing communication channel in the city of Aparecida (SP) under the basic broadcasting plan – a list of communication channels approved by Anatel (the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency) for the whole country.

The proposal to grant UHF channel 59 to the Our Lady of Aparecida Foundation was highly welcome. On May 05, 2001, Telecommunications Minister Pimenta da Veiga signed, during a ceremony held at the Aparecida Radio Station, the concession bill for Aparecida TV.

On October 31, 2001, the contract between the Ministry of Telecommunications and the Our Lady of Aparecida Foundation was signed in Brasília/FD, which established a 36-month term for the TV station to go on the air and, on September 08, 2005, the Our Lady TV was inaugurated.

Currently the Aparecida Communication Network includes Aparecida Radio and POP FM radio stations, Aparecida TV and the A12 news portal.
